What is Tirokafteri?

Tirokaferi is a Greek spicy feta dip that is highly addictive and incredibly easy to make. Of course, the star of this dish is Greek feta (not knock-off feta). The combination of roasted red pepper, spicy peppers, and garlic leaves you with a delicious and creamy dip perfect to serve with bread and veggies. Now you don’t have to head over to Greece to get Tirokafteri, and can enjoy it in just 5 minutes at home!

Tips for Making the Perfect Tirokafteri

Let’s Talk Ingredients

Feta: As we’ve already decided, we’re getting real Greek feta for the most delicious dip you’ll make.

Roasted Red Peppers: For the red peppers, you can either get canned or fresh red peppers. Of course, if you choose to do the roasting yourself, it will take more time, but canned red peppers are just as delicious!

Hot Peppers: For hot peppers, you can really get whatever ones you’d like and add as much or as little as you’d like. I went with a finger hot pepper simply because they were at the store and available. A jalapeno will work just as well!

Garlic: I will always tell you to get fresh garlic. It’s better than powdered or pre-minced.

Red Wine Vinegar: This step seems optional, but I highly recommend adding it to your dip. It adds the perfect acidity that compliments the dip so well!

Olive Oil: Naturally, we both already know we’re using extra virgin olive oil. It’s a must!

Storage & Stuff

You somehow ended up with leftovers; now, what’s the best way to store your spicy feta dip? I recommend getting an air-tight container and keeping it in the fridge. Your tirokafteri has about a 3-day lifespan, so make sure to finish it off before then! Do I recommend freezing it? Probably not, just enjoy it the week you made it.
