Ready to get into it?
Let’s Talk ZipGrow Basil
So there’s something a little special about this recipe, and it’s that it’s made with hydroponic basil! What does that mean? The basil used in this recipe was grown indoors, with no soil and very little water. Although there are several different systems that utilize this way of growing- ZipGrow holds near and dear to my heart. ZipGrow offers hydroponic systems, from huge commercial farms to stylish kitchen units you can use right at home. The beauty of it? Even if it’s -20 degrees out, you can still grow your own fresh produce you know is going to be the highest quality you can get.Â

What Can I Add To My Cherry Tomato Salad
Okay, so you made the recipe, and now you’re wondering what you can add to it. An absolute classic, and naturally, my favourite is mozzarella cheese or bocconcini specifically. It’s cheese; how can you go wrong? Obviously, if it’s overloaded with cheese, it may not be the healthiest option, but a little cheese never hurt anyone (sorry, my lactose friends)!Â
If you want to keep this recipe vegan, two other options you may love are adding cucumber or onions. I’m not a huge onion person, especially raw onions, but if you’re into it, go for it! Lastly, my mom used to always add oregano to her cherry tomato salad. If you’re a big oregano fan, I recommend giving it a try!
What to Serve with Cherry Tomato Salad
Of course, the best thing to serve with cherry tomato salad is bread-specifically a crusty baguette. I recommend picking one up the same day you plan on making your salad for the perfect lunch! If you want to make this even more special, you can cut the tomatoes smaller and use them for bruschetta – that’s a pro tip 😉 Next, you can add it on top of a salad. Salad on salad, that’s healthy, right? But seriously, if you’re making a salad, this is a great addition that’s already packed with flavour.Â
Last but not least, I love serving this with a summer bbq night. It pairs so well with bbq chicken or steak. It also tastes delicious with roasted potatoes. I highly suggest giving it a try!

Cherry Tomato Salad: The Evolution
You know everything you need to know about cherry tomato salad, so let’s learn how to actually make it now!
Step 1: First, let’s gather all our ingredients. Make sure to wash your tomato, jalapeno and basil prior to cutting them! I recommend even measuring out your olive oil and salt before really starting.Â
Â
Step 2:Â Let’s start cutting things! Cut your tomatoes into halves or quarters, depending on how big they are. Next, you’re going to want to add them to a large bowl. I did not have a big bowl and struggled. Don’t follow in my footsteps.Â
Step 3: Next, you’re going to add all the rest of your ingredients to your bowl. You don’t have to make it all pretty like I did; just make sure it’s all in there.Â
Step 4:Â Take a show-stopping picture, show all your friends and enjoy. Oh, and if you want to save this recipe for later, make sure to save it to your spring or summer recipe board on Pinterest!
