Welcome back to another amateur recipe. If I can do it, so can you!
Â
Today we’re talking about an extremely easy recipe for chocolate-covered strawberries. This is a fun activity you can do for valentine’s day or any other special occasion! You can switch up this recipe to make it for birthday parties, Christmas, Easter & so much more!
Â
First things first, let’s answer some common questions.
Â
Do Chocolate-Covered Strawberries Need to be Refrigerated?
Do Chocolate-Covered Strawberries Need to be Refrigerated?
Â
I will recommend that you keep them in the fridge—two reasons for this.
Â
You’d generally keep strawberries in the fridge to keep them fresh, so it would be the same even though they are covered in chocolate.
Â
Secondly, depending on what kind of chocolate you use, if you don’t keep it in the fridge, it will get messy on you- you don’t want that.
Â
To keep it safe and, of course, to make them last longer, the fridge will be your best friend.
Â
How Long to Chocolate Covered Strawberries Last?
Ideally, you want to have them within 2-3 days od making them. Even 3 days would be pushing it. Strawberries don’t tend to last long as is, so dipping them in chocolate won’t extend their life!
Are Chocolate Covered Strawberries Healthy?
Well, that’s debatable. I would say they are a better option if you’re going to have them for a special occasion.
Â
For this recipe, 1 strawberry is less than 70 calories, so if you have a few, you’re doing better than having a piece of cake or a box of chocolates!
Â
If you are looking for a healthier option, then I do recommend chocolate-covered strawberries as an alternative for other denser options.

Ingredients
- 12 Fresh Strawberries
- 3/4 cup Dark Chocolate Chips You can also use a chopped chocolate bar
- 1/4 cup White Chocolate Chips Optional
Instructions
Chocolate Covered Strawberries
- Begin by making sure your strawberries are washed. Ideally, all your strawberries will have stems (it makes it easier to dip)
- Pick a small bowl that is about the depth of your strawberries.
- Melt your dark chocolate chips in the microwave in 30-second intervals. Decrease the time slightly each time, so you don't burn your chocolate!
- Next, grab the stems of your strawberry and swirl them in your milk chocolate. Once covered, add to a lined baking sheet.
- Once all your strawberries are covered, place them in the fridge for 5 minutes. If you live in Canada & it's winter (or another cold climate), just put them in the garage 🙃.
For White Chocolate
- If you choose to do the white chocolate, start by melting it the same way as your dark chocolate. You can also use any coloured chocolate for this step.
- Once melted, add to a ziplock bag to create a "piping bag."
- Bring your strawberries back out and drizzle your white chocolate overtop- avoiding the stems.
- If you choose to put any sprinkles on your strawberries, do this right after your white chocolate is drizzled.
