 So, you bought an air fryer and need some recipe inspo to figure out what to do with it? Today, we’re going over 27 easy air fryer dinner recipes to fill all those crispy desires. All the recipes are delicious, healthy options that are less than 500 calories per serving.

What is an Air Fryer?

Let’s get down to the basics first. What is an air fryer? I know many of you have them sitting on your kitchen counters right now; however, for those who don’t, let’s get into what it actually is. An air fryer is really just magic. It uses hot air in a contained space to make your food crispy, similar to if you were to deep fry them. The best part? You get almost identical results of deep frying without all the calories used for frying. 

Traditional deep frying uses oil to fry (and usually not the ones we’re very fond of). With air frying, you’re using little to no oil each time! For these recipes, you will be using less than 2 TBSP of extra virgin olive oil for the whole batch. Deep frying could NEVER. 

What Can You Air Fry?

Honestly, you can air fry pretty much anything. Appetizers are the best to use in the air fryer, like wings, jalapeno poppers, shrimp and fries. You can also use your air fryer for cooking chicken or fish. I’ve even found the air fryer is the best to reheat pizza! One of my all-time favourite air fryers makes are homemade croutons (def give it a try!) 

To no one’s surprise, you can air fryer anything you would typically fry in oil, like deep-fried wings, zucchini, or even spring rolls.

Now, there are some things I wouldn’t try in the air fryer, like making a quesadilla. The top is too light and ends up making a mess or burning. On that note, anything that’s super light and can easily fly around the air fryer probably shouldn’t be in there. 

Why Use An Air Fryer?

Okay, so maybe you’re debating whether this whole air fryer thing is really worth the extra appliance on your counter. I’m going to tell you why it is (and why it should replace the space your instant pot is in). 

First and foremost, the air fryer makes your favourite foods taste delicious while still being healthy, or healthier than traditionally made. I can say with confidence this strange way of cooking doesn’t take away from the quality we all know and love from deep-frying. 

The other reason why I love air frying is that it’s honestly SO simple. Once you figure out the whole timing, you’ll make meals and dishes in no time. Lastly, the clean up for the air fryer is really not that bad (I know some of you aren’t even cleaning it everytime (myself included)).
